RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat gives historic speech

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangrah Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s speech on the
first day of the RSS conclave, 2018 had messages of syncretism,
brotherhood, and liberalism. “Hindutva binds us together and our vision
of Hindutva does not demean or oppose anyone”, he added.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat insisted upon the old saying of “Unity in
Diversity.” He addressed questions regarding the funding of RSS, the
role of women and its politics. This comes after Congress President
Rahul Gandhi addressed RSS as an Anti-Muslim organization even
compared it to ‘Islamic state’ and questioned the role of women in the
organization. Remarking at the comments made by Congress President
Rahul Gandhi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said political domination is
deemed as a ‘ failure ’ by RSS. “Congress played a major role in the freedom
movement of India and gave the country many great personalities.”

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that the ‘Hindu’ organization does not
want to dominate over the public or force anyone to believe its
ideologies. The aim of RSS, according to Chief Mohan Bhagwat is, to
find congruity and incongruity through certain binding values such as
pluralism, self-sacrifice, and spirit of co-existence that finds expression
in Hinduism. India is a country of diverse beliefs and RSS’s functioning is
democratic, not dictatorial. With opposition leaders accusing RSS to be
the ‘remote control’ of BJP, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat sought to avoid
misgivings saying, “we are here to engage with everyone not convince
anyone.”
As Karnataka High Court Lawyer Tejaswi Surya noted in Swarajyamag,
“The very fact that RSS has survived and grown in a terribly hostile
political environment since the time of its inception is a testimony to
the strength of its core character,” Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangrah

(RSS) has always been presumed to espouse bigotry and a monolithic
view of history. Its critics have alleged that the organization tends to
form a ‘Hindu Pakistan’ or a ‘Hindu Taliban’, but RSS chief Mohan
Bhagwat says that the work done by the ‘Hindu’ organization is
incomparable.
Addressing a range of actors, thinkers, philosophers at Vigyan Bhawan
in New Delhi, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat preached the concept of
pluralism. He said RSS believes in sewing the threads of Unity in
Diversity. The unity and diversified culture of India must be ‘celebrated
and respected’, he added.
The three-day event was an outreach program initiated by RSS so that
people can understand what Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangrah is all
about.
