This is what happens when your career is chosen by your folks, than by yourself.

Exam season has recently come to a halt, giving young students time to ponder over what would be the path of their career. During this period it should be ensured that there should be no pressure over them to pick a career of their choice. Even if the pressure comes from parents, teachers or peers. As this could
have some disastrous consequences, for example we can take the case of none other than Mr. Rahul Gandhi. As on numerous occasions he has successfully managed to embarrass both his party and family.

One such incident was from yesterday, where he told a large gathering in Delhi that the founder of Coca-Cola in his early days sold “shikanji” or lemonade and McDonalds was initially a “dhaba”. He said,” Who started Coca-Cola Company? Do you know? I will tell you who,” the Congress president said as he addressed his party’s convention for backward castes at an indoor stadium.
“Coca-Cola wala America mein shikanji bechta tha (The man who started Coca Cola sold shikanji in the US). He sold sugar mixed in water. His skill was recognised and rewarded,” he said. Warming up to his theme, he also said, “You know McDonald’s. It is everywhere. Who started it? He ran a dhaba (food joint) but we all have seen the brand’s progress. You show me one person who runs a dhaba and has sent up a Coca-Cola in India. Ford was a mechanic, so was Honda.”

Fact check: Do I even need to write this!

This is not just one instance; in the past there have been various occasions that led him to produce such gems, whether be it saying Gujarat is bigger than USA, Poverty is state of mind, Escape velocity…… The list is very long of such goof ups.

This curious case of Mr. Gandhi gives us a very important lesson, that whatever we choose to be in life it should be our very own decision and by self realization we should just back away from the position in which we are a misfit. As, if we are not pursuing what we love, it may only give rise to failures and blunders that will only lead to disgrace and self pity. We hope Mr. Gandhi will ponder if he is a complete misfit for politics and should soon retire from public life to give relief to the Congress party.
